Dortmund extends with substitute goalkeeper Meyer

Contract until summer 2026 - Dortmund extends with substitute goalkeeper Meyer

Football-Bundesligist Borussia Dortmund have extended the contract of backup goalkeeper Alexander Meyer prematurely until summer 2026. "He is an excellent goalkeeper, an absolute team player, and also an exemplary professional who gives his all in every training session, is always ready, and performs when we need him," said BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

Meyer is the number two at Dortmund behind first-choice keeper Gregor Kobel. With his positive attitude, he plays an important role in the dressing room and radiates leadership, calmness, and security, according to Kehl about the 33-year-old.

Meyer joined Dortmund from SSV Jahn Regensburg in the summer of 2022. Last season, he played eight games in the Bundesliga and one in the Champions League for the BVB.
