Singer Roland Kaiser saw his wax figure for the first time, made by Madame Tussauds for the Berlin exhibition. "Incredible", said the 72-year-old, hours before the start of his annual "Kaisermania" concert series in Dresden. "A perfect doppelganger, one could say."

The figure is identical to him down to every hair and wrinkle, but his outfit is different: instead of the classic blue two-piece suit with a colorful vest, the real Kaiser wore a red trouser and dark blue jacket for the press conference - and was fascinated by his look-alike.

Madame Tussauds selected Kaiser, who will celebrate his 50-year stage anniversary in 2024, for the gathering of the illustrious, international community of renowned artists, including Taylor Swift and Helene Fischer. "It's an honor, no question," said Kaiser. His look-alike will stand in a miniature version of the "Kaisermania" set, with the famous Dresden Old Town skyline and videos of his legendary shows - and will be publicly viewable starting this Saturday.

"That's high art"

Before the curtain was lifted, he hesitated and asked, "And, does it look like me?" His wife was shocked, "because she thought you were already there," the event moderator reported. Only a few minutes later, the singer was visibly happy with his wax figure, posing behind it for photographers.

He sat for five hours for Madame Tussauds specialists to model for the copy of himself, which was then produced in the famous London workshops of Madame Tussauds. He saw what a "hard job" that was. "The perfection, that's high art," said Kaiser. Every detail is correct, "even the wedding ring."
