Dispute on board: Pilot diverts to India

Due to an incident on board, a plane on its way from Munich to Thailand has made an unscheduled landing in India. The Lufthansa aircraft had to divert to the Indian capital New Delhi on Tuesday, Lufthansa confirmed to the German Press Agency.

The reason for this was the "unruly behavior of a passenger", which "could have endangered the safety and integrity on board". The man was handed over to the authorities in Delhi.

According to reports by the Indian news agencies PTI and ANI, there was an argument on board. The passenger is said to be a German. The 53-year-old is said to have shouted at his wife. He also threw food and tried to set fire to a blanket with a lighter. The newspaper "Bild" also reported on this.

It was not known what the argument was about. As the man had not followed the instructions of the staff, the pilots had asked for a safety landing, it was also reported.

The diversion of the Lufthansa plane to New Delhi due to the passenger's behavior significantly disrupted the original air traffic route. Despite the travel disruption, the airline ensured the safety of other passengers by landing as soon as possible.
