Language - Dialect-Campaign: Saxony will celebrate its dialects
"Saxon Dialect should no longer be a cause for mockery and ridicule. Under the slogan "Saxon for all!" the Free State intends to present the various dialects of the population in a humorous campaign and at the same time promote the federal state.
"With the new action, we want to celebrate our dialect. It is a piece of Saxon identity and means home, pride, familiarity, and diversity," explained Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU). In his opinion, there is not just one Saxon dialect. The regions are just as diverse as the dialects.
"What unites us all: We love our dialect. We carry it in our hearts and wear it self-confidently on our tongues. It is important to preserve this wealth," so Kretschmer.
Five Language Regions in Saxony
The dialect campaign focuses on the various Saxon dialects. For example, a new image film deals wittily with the topic of understanding despite regional differences. There is also a specially designed website, scientific background information on language development and history.
Experts divide the dialects into five different language regions: the Leipzig area with the adjacent northeastern area, the Upper Saxon-Meissen area with its center Dresden, Vogtlandish and Erzgebirgish in the southwest, and Upper Lusatian in the east.
According to the State Chancellery, the various films, clips, and other editorial content will be played out on "saechsisch-fuer-alle.de" as well as on the social media channels of the image campaign "So goes Saxon" (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Tiktok) in the coming weeks and months.
Furthermore, various projects with successful "dialect fluencers," as well as with "Grande Dames and Grandseigneurs of the Saxon dialect," are in progress," said the statement.
