Herbertingen - Altshausen - Destroyed railway track reusable from August

The railway line between Herbertingen (District Sigmaringen) and Altshausen (District Ravensburg), which was destroyed by a storm, is expected to be passable again at the beginning of August. The reopening of the line is predicted to fall on Monday, August 5, the railway announced. First, the tracks will be repaired. A comprehensive renewal is planned for the end of the year.

The railway bed was partially flooded by a storm at the end of June. Slopes along the tracks were eroded by landslides in some places, and the drainage systems in the railway bed were destroyed. Currently, buses are running on the line as a replacement.

The damaged railway track between Herbertingen and Altshausen lies in the districts of Sigmaringen and Ravensburg, both located in Baden-Württemberg. The area has experienced severe weather conditions, including storms, which have affected the nearby towns of Sigmaringen and Ravensburg as well. The anticipated repair of the tracks begins with addressing the storm-related issues before the scheduled reopening.
