Culinary arts do not anticipate an impact from EM.
The European Football Championship taking place in Germany isn't causing much excitement for the catering industry. Most businesses in this sector aren't anticipating any economic benefits from the tournament. However, the story is different in the ten host cities.
With less than a month to go before the start of the European Football Championship in Germany, the majority of eateries and hotels in the hospitality sector aren't expecting any significant gains from the event. Only 15.5% of the hospitality industry believes that the tournament will bring positive results, as per the Interview with Dehoga President Guido Zöllick in Berlin. On a broader scale, around 75% of the businesses surveyed don't foresee any increase in guests or revenue due to the championship.
Zöllick elaborated, "A major event such as the European Championships can displace regular business to some extent." This is because fewer or shorter conferences may take place, and there'll be fewer business travelers during the tournament period. Nonetheless, the industry is looking forward to the upcoming month, as the tournament might lift the spirits of the nation and enhance Germany's appeal as a tourist destination.
However, a contrasting pattern emerges for businesses in the ten host cities, with 46.3% expecting positive outcomes. These businesses hope for an influx of guests while also anticipating a rise in revenue during the championship. Moreover, city and conference hotels as well as the beverage-oriented gastronomy sector are more optimistic than the average, as close to one-third of these businesses are anticipating positive effects.
A survey conducted by Dehoga, involving 1,340 hospitality businesses throughout Germany, showed these insights between April and May.

The European Football Championship 2024 being hosted in Germany is projected to have a positive impact on the gastronomy industry in the ten host cities, according to a survey conducted by Dehoga. The hotel industry in these locations also anticipates an influx of guests and an increase in revenue during the tournament.
