Culture - Creative Summer Music Days in Hitzacker with Thalbach
Freestyle, with no restrictions and visionary: The 79th Summer Music Days Hitzacker give artists ample room for creation. Under the motto "Themes.Go!" chamber music greats and eight young quartets are more encouraged than ever to explore their creativity. The nine-day music festival in Wendland is considered the oldest chamber festival in Germany.
The Music Days are opened in the Elbstadth Hitzacker (Lüchow-Dannenberg district) on a Saturday (5:17 p.m.) with one of the most popular works of the Austrian composer Arnold Schönberg: "Verklärte Nacht" will be presented by the actress Anna Thalbach. The 51-year-old Berliner is making her debut. The Kuss Quartet, expanded to a sextet with Intendant and violinist Oliver Wille, will perform in the Verdo Music Hall.
"Alone as a quartet - that could be the motto of string quartet ensembles," says Intendant Oliver Wille. One is responsible for all decisions, but not alone, but in constant discussion with musical partners. "It can be exhausting, but also surprisingly new and innovative," he means. Ideas, unprecedented programs, new formats, visions: "We let the ensembles bring their creations to life." The focus is on string quartets.
The nine-day festival ends on August 4 with a concert (11:11 a.m.) by the violinist Veronika Eberle. Among other things, "Anthemes 1" by Pierre Boulez will be heard, inspired by hymnic songs. Professionals and amateurs can participate daily in the Chorsingen for all to start the day.
The budget amounts to 418,000 Euro, of which Niedersachsen contributes 92,000 Euro (22%). About 40% should be covered by ticket sales, the rest by sponsoring.
