Infrastructure - Construction work in Nuernberg - Restrictions for railway passengers
Travelers in and around Nuremberg will have to deal with restrictions in the coming weeks due to construction work. Affected is primarily the S-Bahn- and regional traffic, as a railway spokesperson announced. In long-distance traffic, some trains on the Munich-Nuremberg-Erfurt-Berlin route will be rerouted, with a stop in Nuremberg then being eliminated.
The work is taking place in the area of the Main Station. According to the railway, over 1500 meters of track and 18 switches are to be renewed in several construction sections.
For the S-Bahn, the S1 will only run from Bamberg to Fürth during the work. Between the main station and Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate, it will only operate every hour, as will the S2 between Hartmannshof and the main station. There will be a shuttle bus service to Roth instead. The S3 will no longer run between Nuremberg and Altdorf, and buses will replace trains between Feucht and Altdorf instead.
AC/DC Concert on Saturday: Fans affected by restrictions
Visitors and attendees of the AC/DC concert on Saturday at the Nuremberg Zeppelinfeld need to adjust to changes. Due to construction work, the offering between the main station and the Frankenstadion station will be significantly reduced.
For rock fans, there will be a shuttle bus service running every 10 to 15 minutes from the main station to the Zeppelinfeld. Passengers traveling from Neumarkt/Feucht should get off at the Nürnberg-Dutzendteich station instead. Information on all construction-related schedule changes can be found, according to the railway, at www.bauinfos.deutschebahn.com.
