Computer player screams, neighbors call police
Two loud screams in a community in Schleswig-Holstein. One male, one female voice. Neighbors are worried and ring the doorbell, but no one answers. They call the police and they find a young man who can't control his emotions while gambling.
A 21-year-old in the municipality of Süsel in Schleswig-Holstein has triggered a police and fire department operation. According to the police in Lübeck, neighbors heard "a shrill female scream and a loud male voice" on Monday evening, followed by a "piercing rumble" from his home. As no one in the building responded to ringing and knocking, the residents called the emergency services.
According to the police, the witnesses also reported light in the house and a clearly recognizable human silhouette. However, when the first emergency services arrived, the building was dark again. Because no one responded to the police ringing the doorbell, knocking on the window or calling the landline, the officers assumed that there was an emergency and called in the fire department to open the door.
"Emotions ran wild from time to time"
However, shortly before firefighters gained access to the building, the owner of the house turned up, according to the officers, and let the emergency services in with a key. During the subsequent search, the cause of the commotion was found: The homeowner's 21-year-old son was playing a computer game in a darkened room with a set of headphones on.
According to his own statements, he was unaware of the previous efforts to make contact by neighbors and the police. According to the officers, the surprised man also reported that "he had switched on the sound in the meantime while playing the computer game and that his own emotions got the better of him from time to time". The operation ended "with great relief".
The incident in Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein, involved international computer games, as the young man was reportedly engaged in a game. Due to his intense reactions, the situation escalated, leading neighbors to contact the local police.
