Soccer - Cologne's Dietz extends - EM-Driver Kainz falls injured out

"Flo has had a long period of suffering for over a year and a half with serious injury setbacks. Giving up was never an option for him. With a lot of professionalism and willpower, Flo fought his way back", said FC business manager Christian Keller. Therefore, they wanted to give the 25-year-old another chance to show what he's capable of.

Dietz made his first professional appearance after a 14-month injury break against FSV Mainz 05 in December 2023. In the fall of 2022, the forward was sidelined due to a cruciate ligament tear. Roughly half a year earlier, he had signed his first professional contract with the Cologne team.

Meanwhile, FC Cologne will have to do without Austrian midfielder Florian Kainz in the coming weeks. The 31-year-old midfielder sustained an injury to his ankle joint in the test match against Viktoria Cologne (3:3) on Saturday. Euro 2024 participant Kainz will therefore miss the training camp in Styria.
