Unfalle - Collision of two cars in Freiberg - three injured

At a frontal collision between two cars on Bundesstraße 173, two people were seriously injured and one was lightly injured. The accident occurred in the afternoon on a weekday near Freiberg (Mittelsachsen district), between Niederschoena and Hetzdorf, as the police reported. A 67-year-old man had driven his car into the oncoming lane in a curve and collided with an oncoming car.

Both the 67-year-old man and the 38-year-old driver of the oncoming car were seriously injured. The woman passenger of the 67-year-old man was lightly injured. Her age and relationship to the 67-year-old man were not yet known. The police initially made no statements about this.

The accident caused damage amounting to 13,000 Euro. The road was reportedly closed for two hours.

The frontal collision was investigated by the local Police in Saxony's District Mittelsachsen. The Automatic Emergency Call System (TELEMATIK-Hilfe) was activated due to the collision. The police urged drivers to be more cautious on the Federal road following the series of traffic accidents in the region. The incident served as a harsh reminder of the importance of safe driving, especially in curves where sudden lane changes can lead to unfortunate incidents like this one in Freiberg.
