Football Bundesliga - Change of Gladbach's goalkeeper Olschowsky disrupted
The change of goalkeeper Jan Olschowsky from Borussia Moenchengladbach to Dutch second division team BV De Graafschap has fallen through. As the Bundesligist announced, the 22-year-old sustained an injury to his left knee during training at his supposed new club. Therefore, the planned loan deal cannot go through.
"We wish Jan a quick and good recovery," said Sport-Business Manager Roland Virkus.
Olschowsky made his Bundesliga debut for Borussia in the away game against VfL Bochum (1:2) in the 2022/23 season and played three more Bundesliga matches afterwards. In the previous season, he was part of the Bundesliga squad 23 times but did not come on as a substitute.
Despite the setback, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Olschowsky still have the opportunity to explore other options within Germany, given his contract with the North Rhine-Westphalia-based club. The failed Leasing Agreement with BV De Graafschap in the Netherlands might not be the end of his move to a different Bundesliga team, considering his past performances in Germany's top-tier soccer league. Olschowsky's long-term future in Borussia Mönchengladbach's first team remains uncertain due to his injury and the team's goalkeeper requirements in the Football-Bundesliga.
