Car hits articulated truck on A4: Driver fatally injured
A 24-year-old driver was fatally injured in a rear-end collision on the A4 between Magdala (Weimarer Land district) and Bucha (Saale-Holzland district). According to the police, the 60-year-old driver of an articulated truck stopped due to a traffic jam on Friday night. The 24-year-old then drove his car into the articulated lorry, presumably without braking. He succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident. The driver of the articulated lorry suffered minor injuries in the accident and was treated as an outpatient. The MDR had previously reported on the accident.
The road was reportedly closed for around two hours. Investigations into the exact circumstances of the accident are ongoing.
The incident on the A4 resulted in significant traffic disruptions due to the road closure. Emergency services were needed to manage the aftermath of the accidents involving the car and the articulated truck.
