Car crashes into tree with "great force" - three fatalities
Three people have been killed in a serious traffic accident in the Oberberg district of North Rhine-Westphalia. A car with three occupants left the road near Reichshof and crashed "with great force" into a tree, police said. Reichshof is located around 50 kilometers east of Cologne.
In addition to the 78-year-old driver, his 71-year-old wife and a 54-year-old woman were also in the car. All three suffered such serious injuries that first responders and a large contingent of emergency services were unable to help them, according to the report. They died at the scene of the accident on country road 148, which is expected to be closed until well into the night.
In addition to the fire department, ambulance service and police, there are also emergency pastoral workers on duty. A Cologne police traffic accident investigation team is currently securing the evidence. The L 148 was closed until late into the night.
