A driver was fatally injured in a frontal collision between a car and a truck in Brotterode-Trusetal (Landkreis Schmalkalden-Meiningen). The driver of the car, for reasons yet to be determined, drove his car into the oncoming lane in a left turn, according to the police. The collision resulted in the man being trapped in his car. He died at the scene. The truck driver remained unharmed. An expert was commissioned to clarify the accident sequence.
The crash occurred on the Automatic garage control system-equipped roads of Thuringia. Despite the advanced traffic management system, the driver failed to adhere to the lane rules, leading to a Counter-traffic collision.
