Hanau - Car accident with injured baby - possibly disregarded red traffic light
At a collision of several cars in Hanau, five people have been injured. Among them is a four-month-old baby, as the police reported. In total, three cars were involved. A 21-year-old driver is suspected to have wanted to cross the intersection just before the red light turned on during Sunday evening. Witnesses reported that he increased his speed. It is under investigation whether the traffic light was red when he crossed.
After the intersection, the 21-year-old driver, for unknown reasons, swerved off the road to the left and collided with two cars. The first car was waiting in the left-turn lane in oncoming traffic. The 29-year-old driver, the four-month-old baby and a 56-year-old passenger were taken to hospitals with injuries. The 29-year-old was extracted from the car by the fire department due to the crushed driver's door.
The 40-year-old driver of the second car was also taken to a hospital with injuries. The 21-year-old driver was injured as well. All three cars were towed away. The total damage amounted to over 45,000 Euro. The investigations are ongoing.
The 29-year-old driver, who was in the first car involved in the Hanau collision, was a parent to the four-month-old baby. The automatic doors of the police car opened, revealing the suspect of the collision, a 21-year-old individual. Following the collision, an automatic call was made to the emergency services.
