Collision - Car accident during turn at Wendemano easier
At an accident during a turn maneuver on a country road in the Rhein-Pfalz-District, six people have been injured. Among the injured were three children between the ages of nine and thirteen, the police reported. One child sustained severe facial injuries in the accident at Mutterstadt.
A 51-year-old driver, according to police statements, left the Bundesstraße 9 too early and therefore attempted an illegal turn. However, she collided with the car behind her during the maneuver, which was thrown into the roadside ditch. The police estimate the damage at around 40,000 Euro. There were temporary traffic disruptions.
The car accident occurred on Landstraße in the Rhineland-Palatinate district, not far from Mutterstadt. The automatic emergency call system alerted authorities to the collision. The police are investigating whether the 51-year-old driver's actions leading up to the accident were due to fatigue or distraction. To avoid the scene, some motorists took detours through nearby streets, adding to the traffic congestion. The Rhine, flowing nearby, remained unaffected by the accident, fortunately.
