Police - Bystanders threatened and far-right slogans? Investigations

A man is reported to have shouted far-right slogans on a supermarket car park in Ubstadt-Weiher (Karlsruhe District) and deliberately hit passers-by with a bicycle chain. The 65-year-old man allegedly came close to hitting a mother with a child in the previous week, according to the Police. Another man who tried to calm him down had to step aside, and no one was injured.

According to the police spokesperson, it was initially unclear how the man had obtained the chain and whether he had dismantled it before the incident. The suspect is said to have fled the scene on a bicycle after the incident. The police have since identified the suspect's personal details.

The incident occurred in a supermarket parking lot situated in Ubstadt-Weiher, which falls under the Karlsruhe District of Baden-Württemberg. Despite the police's determination to address criminality in the region, the motives behind the man's aggressive actions remain unclear. The suspect, having used a bicycle chain as a weapon, managed to escape the scene immediately after the incident.
