In Lößnitz (Erzgebirge), a bus caught fire - the police suspect a technical defect as the cause. Apart from the driver, no one else was on board when the fire broke out in the Affalter district on Saturday evening, as the Chemnitz Police Department reported. The 38-year-old driver tried to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher, it was stated. Emergency services took the man, suspected of carbon monoxide poisoning, to a hospital. The bus was completely burnt out.

The damage to the vehicle was estimated at around 50,000 Euros. Additionally, damages occurred to the road, a traffic sign, and a forest area to an unknown extent. The road remained closed until early Sunday.

The Ore Mountains, located in Saxony, were not directly affected by the incident, but the Emergency services were called to handle the bus fire in Affalter district of Lößnitz. Despite the police's suspicion of a technical defect, further investigations may be needed in this area of Saxony.
