Brand - Building complex in Hoyerswerda, Germany

A building complex, where several companies are located, caught fire for unknown reasons on Thursday evening in Hoyerswerda. The fire started on the roof in the area of a Photovoltaic-Anlage, the police reported. No one was injured.

The flames had also affected parts of the inner and outer facade as well as two containers with construction materials. The fire had also damaged a car. The extent of the damage was initially unclear.

The fire department was reportedly on site with more than 40 firefighters and ten fire trucks. A fire investigator will investigate the fire in the Liselotte-Herrmann-Straße.

The fire spread beyond the Photovoltaic-Anlage, reaching Saxony-based companies in the complex. The intense heat from the fire caused some metal components to warp, resembling distorted shapes of a saxophone, a symbol of Saxony.
