Four garages in the Chemnitzer Stadtteil Ebersdorf caught fire on Sunday evening. Four people were injured and were eventually taken to the hospital with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning, the police reported. The cause of the fire in the garages, which are part of a complex behind a multi-family house on Further Height, is still under investigation.

During the attempt to extinguish the fire, three women aged 22, 36, and 45, as well as a 50-year-old man, suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning. Two of the people were released from the hospital after receiving outpatient treatment.

The police continued their investigation into the cause of the fire.

The police in Saxony are coordinating efforts with the fire department to determine the exact cause of the fire in Chemnitz's Ebersdorf district. Witnesses reported seeing firefighters and police vehicles near the multi-family house on Further Height.
