Bodies of Canadian entrepreneur couple found

Two charred bodies are discovered in a burnt-out car on the Caribbean island of Dominica. They are apparently the operators of an eco-resort; the two Canadians had been reported missing. The police arrest four people.

According to a media report, police on the Caribbean island of Dominica have found the presumed bodies of a missing Canadian entrepreneur couple and arrested four people. The Canadian tech entrepreneur and his partner are being investigated on suspicion of murder, the portal "Dominica News Online" reported, citing the Minister for Public Security, Rayburn Blackmoore.

The bodies were found on December 1 in a burnt-out car near an eco-resort run by the couple. The bodies were too badly burned to be identified. The police have ruled out the possibility of an accident; the dead had gunshot wounds. Three of the four people arrested were foreigners, including the couple next door to the alleged victims. According to local media reports, the two US-Americans had been arguing with the Canadians for years over an access road.

A foundation in Montréal set up by the entrepreneur and named after him wrote on its website that the 66-year-old businessman Daniel Langlois and his partner died in tragic circumstances on Dominica on December 1. Langlois had founded the company Softimage in 1986, which was taken over by Microsoft in 1994. The 3D animation software developed by the company was used in Hollywood films such as "Jurassic Park", "Titanic" and "The Matrix". "Its contribution to the world of cinema is immeasurable," wrote the Canadian Film Board (NFB) on the X platform.

The murder investigation into the Canadian entrepreneur couple, Daniel Langlois and his partner, has gained international attention due to their involvement in the eco-resort industry. Controversy surrounding their deaths on Dominica extends beyond the Caribbean, as a dispute with neighboring US-Americans over an access road had been ongoing.

The Canadian government has expressed concern over the case, calling for a fair and transparent investigation into the alleged murder and manslaughter of its citizens in a foreign country.
