Black ice: Plane leaves the runway in Hamburg
A Eurowings plane left the runway at Hamburg Airport after landing due to black ice. No one was injured, a spokeswoman for the airport told the dpa news agency.
The plane had come from Stuttgart. Airport operations continued as normal afterwards. The plane was being towed away, she said.
According to a Eurowings spokeswoman, black ice was the cause of the plane coming off the runway. The plane skidded during the parking process. All 89 passengers and crew were able to leave the plane normally via the stairs and were taken to the terminal by bus.
The airport authorities advised caution with air traffic due to the recent incident of black ice, affecting plane landings. Eurowings announced that they will conduct thorough checks on their aircraft to prevent such emergencies in the future.
