Market released again - Biteful smell in Poessneck: Police end operation

The police have reopened the Baumarkt in Poßneck following an incident involving a bitter smell and have ended their on-site investigations. So far, there are no indications of a crime, as Saalfeld police reported. It remains unclear what caused the smell.

On Tuesday, several people were taken to the hospital due to circulation and respiratory issues. In total, seven women aged between 17 and 53 were affected. The Baumarkt was then cleared, and two adjacent markets were evacuated. They are now allowed to reopen.

The police in Thuringia were notified about the unusual smell at the Baumarkt in Pößneck, leading to their immediate response. Despite the incident causing disruptions in the local building market, no emergency measures were required beyond the evacuation of nearby markets. The distinct smell still lingers in the air, adding to the intrigue surrounding the incident.
