Vincent Kompany made the FC Bayern Munchen stars sweat for the first time under his leadership. The 38-year-old took charge of his first training session as coach of the German football record champions at the club grounds on Säbener Straße on Wednesday. After a short warm-up program, the Belgian held his first speech, followed by further training contents.

Among the 13 professionals were also national team players Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka, who both did not participate in the home European Championship. Five youth players and two goalkeepers also took part. New signing Hiroki Ito was present as well.

Kompany communicated with his players in both German and English. "I want to make sure that the training start goes well and the season preparation runs according to plan," Kompany had said in the club TV. The mentality must be there right away.

EM participants come later

Due to the holidays of the EM participants, Kompany initially only had a small squad at his disposal. Harry Kane & Co. can recover for a total of three weeks. The colleagues travel to a three-day training camp at Tegernsee from the 22nd to the 24th of July, where the first test game against FC Rottach-Egern is scheduled as a conclusion.

On 28th July, there is a friendly match against 1. FC Düren, followed by a trip to South Korea from 31st July to 5th August. The Bayern's league debut is on 16th August in the DFB-Pokal away against SSV Ulm.
