Before the Olympic Games - Basketball-President: Doublepack as future model
Basketball-President Ingo Weiss aims to have the German men's and women's national teams become even closer in the future. Regarding the double header on this Friday in Berlin, the functionary of the German Press Agency stated: "I personally like it very much, I also think it's right. But it has to fit with certain factors. Next year it won't be possible time-wise. If it fits, we'll do it again. There are certain synergies."
Such a double header, where women and men play one after the other, is also an idea for country windows with qualification games. On Friday (17.15 Uhr/MagentaSport), the women's team coached by Lisa Thomaidis will face Nigeria in the capital. Following that (20.00 Uhr), the World Champions with Dennis Schröder will take on Olympic round-robin opponent Japan.
Both German teams have qualified for the Olympics in Paris. The preliminary round will be held in Lille. The women's team is making its Olympic debut. Approximately 10,000 fans are expected in Berlin on Friday. Tickets for the two games are only available in a double pack.
