Hyperscaler - Banksy-exhibition starts in Magdeburg
In the freshly renovated Hyparsphere, works by Banksy can be seen starting from Friday. In this unauthorized exhibition, eleven originals and over forty more pieces from private collector collections will be displayed.
Banksy's identity is unknown. The sprayed works of the British artist who works under a pseudonym can be found frequently on walls or buildings at many international locations. Recognition for the authenticity of the graffiti works is, for example, a posting on a Banksy website on the internet. His partly satirical artworks deal with political themes such as war or Brexit, but also ethical or social issues like consumption.
With the famous motif "Girl With Balloon"
These themes are also the focus of the exhibition "Banksy - A Vandal Turned Idol" in Magdeburg. The presented originals mainly come from the 2000s. Among them is the popular motif "Girl With Balloon", which will be displayed in a two-part series on canvas. In addition to prints (original prints), there are also some photographs and a VR area. Visitors can immerse themselves in a virtual world full of artworks using a headset.
The architecturally distinctive Hyparsphere near the Elbe has been open again after years of renovation and vacancy since June. It was threatened by collapse at one point. The Banksy exhibition is one of the first major events. The show is on display in the state capital until November 10th.
