A 21-year-old man allegedly assaulted a homeless man at Bochum Hauptbahnhof, inflicting life-threatening injuries. According to Police and Prosecutor's Office statements, the assailant approached the 38-year-old, who is currently without a fixed residence in Germany and had withdrawn to a corner of the luggage storage area. The incident occurred there. "The motives behind the crime are currently unknown."
The 38-year-old was taken to a hospital with a doctor and paramedics. His condition was described as critical by the doctors. The suspect fled but was soon arrested at a platform. The Nigerian national was to be presented to the judge in remand court later in the day. A murder commission was established.
The assault took place at Bochum Main Station, also known as Bochum Hauptbahnhof. The Public Prosecutor's Office in North Rhine-Westphalia will investigate the alleged Criminality related to this incident at the train station. The suspect was apprehended by the police near one of the platform areas at Bochum Main Station.
