Unknown perpetrators have blown up two ATMs in the early morning hours in Rhineland-Palatinate. The affected banks were in Freckenfeld (district of Germersheim) and in Hillesheim (district of Vulkaneifel), according to the police. In Pfalz's Freckenfeld, the explosion damaged both the ATM and the building. The perpetrators were unable to obtain money according to initial police findings. The Unknowns are believed to have fled in a dark vehicle towards the French border after the explosion. The exact damage cost was initially unclear.

In Hillesheim in the Eifel, a witness reported to the police that two masked perpetrators broke into the bank's vestibule and a third waited in a getaway car. The residents above the bank were unharmed during the ATM explosion in the entrance area. However, they had to evacuate their apartments. The perpetrators are believed to have then fled over the Federal Highway 421. The extent of the damage was initially unclear. There was also no information on whether the perpetrators managed to obtain money. The police are searching for the perpetrators in both cases.

The incident in Hillesheim is situated in the district of Vulkaneifel, part of Rhineland-Palatinate. The police in Palatinate are actively searching for the masked individuals who used force to gain entry to a bank's vestibule, aiming to access an ATM. The suspicious activity occurred during the morning hour, potentially involving criminality beyond just the ATM destruction. Despite fleeing towards the French border, the authorities continue their hunt for the perpetrators, seeking to determine if they successfully withdrew any funds from the targeted ATMs.
