At least three people have been killed in a gun attack at a university in the US city of Las Vegas. This was announced by the city's police on Platform X.

Another person is in a critical condition in hospital. According to police, the suspected perpetrator is also dead. How the shooter died was initially unclear, as was his motive. Investigators did not initially give any details about the victims or the course of the attack. However, the police emphasized that there was no further danger to the public.

In the USA, rampages and fatal shootings are sadly part of everyday life. Firearms are readily available there and in circulation on a massive scale. Deadly attacks with many victims regularly shake the country - for example in schools, supermarkets, nightclubs or at large events. Calls for stricter gun laws regularly come to nothing.
