Rastplace-Attack - Arrest Warrant Robbery at Rest Stop: Two Men Sought
After the attack on a couple at a Rest Area on the A3 motorway near Bad Honnef, the police are searching for two suspects with arrest warrants. They are accused of dangerous bodily harm, a police spokesperson said.
In total, four suspects have been identified in connection to the attack on the Autobahn parking lot Logebachtal near Bonn from last Wednesday. All of them are on the run. The police did not provide details about the motives behind the attack or the suspects at first. The "Cologne City Anzeiger" reported on this earlier.
A 51-year-old man was hit by a car and briefly pinned down on Wednesday evening in front of his motorhome. Then, according to initial reports, he and his 50-year-old woman were attacked and seriously injured by several people.
Brutal attack with kicks and sharp objects
According to initial police reports, they were kicked and attacked with sharp objects - knives or screwdrivers. According to investigators, the victim and the suspects were known to each other. However, the rest area was reportedly used as the crime scene rather by chance, as it turned out later. There were numerous witnesses on the heavily frequented Autobahn parking lot.
The 51-year-old man was flown to a clinic by helicopter, his wife was taken to a hospital by an ambulance. The seriously injured couple is being protected by the police, it was reported.
The five people, who according to initial reports were involved in the attack, fled from the rest area onto the autobahn towards Frankfurt. The search for them was unsuccessful. A murder commission is investigating.
