Approximately 150 calls to district registration offices' telephone hotlines

Poor grades, not transferred? In North Rhine-Westphalia, the report phones of the district administrations can help with such or other problems. The offer is perceived differently regionally.

school - Approximately 150 calls to district registration offices' telephone hotlines

Approximely 150 calls were made to the report hotlines of the five district governments in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) towards the end of the school year, according to a survey by the German Press Agency. The call numbers showed regional differences. The Bezirksregierung Detmold received the most calls, with 70 to 80 callers having registered, stated a spokesperson for the Bezirksregierung.

Mostly, parents had used the offer, with few calls from students. Numerous inquiries at the report hotline revolved around grading. However, the spokesperson mentioned that there had also been discussions about remarks on report cards and academic paths. The number of callers was roughly comparable to previous years.

Fewer calls in Duesseldorf

Approximately 30 callers contacted the report hotline of the Bezirksregierung Duesseldorf regarding reports at the end of the summer school term, according to a spokesperson. However, some calls were also made directly to the school department offices before the hotline was launched. These were not included in the aforementioned number.

The hotline was available for consultation during the report distribution period on three days. "Tendentially, the number of callers is decreasing," the spokesperson said. Parents, students, and teachers would likely seek direct conversations with teachers or school administration in case of disagreements.

Support for students, parents, and teachers

Twenty-nine callers utilized the counseling service of the report hotline at the Bezirksregierung Koeln between July 4 and July 9, according to a spokesperson for the Koeln district government. The number of calls has been consistent and, if anything, slightly fluctuating for years. However, there is no detailed analysis or survey regarding the report hotline.

The goal of the service is to help callers as quickly and competently as possible, emphasized the spokesperson. According to their own statements, the report hotline offers support for students, parents, and teachers with questions about grading, transfer, and academic paths.

Few calls in Arnsberg and Munster

Seven calls were recorded at the report hotline of the Bezirksregierung Arnsberg between July 8 and July 10. The trend was rather declining, stated a spokesperson. "We attribute this to the fact that people who have counseling needs register early and are counseled in advance." Ten calls were reported to the Bezirksregierung Munster. No statistics on the caller numbers were available, but a slightly lower demand was noticed.

The report hotlines of the NRW district governments are aimed at students at advanced schools, i.e., real, secondary, and comprehensive schools, gymnasiums, and vocational colleges, as well as parents. For primary, elementary, and special schools, the school offices of the respective districts or free cities are responsible.

  1. The Bezirksregierung Düsseldorf is located in North Rhine-Westphalia, just like the other district administrations that received calls regarding school reports.
  2. Despite receiving fewer calls compared to Detmold, the Düsseldorf district administration still plays a significant role in providing support to students, parents, and teachers through their report hotline.
  3. In the survey conducted by the German Press Agency, it was noted that the District Administration of North Rhine-Westphalia issued certificates for students, in addition to handling inquiries about school reports.
  4. The District Administration in Detmold, which received the highest number of calls, also provides information and support related to academic paths and transfer, as stated by their spokesperson.
