At a fire in the city center of Heidenheim, a woman was found dead in an apartment. The police reported that the fire broke out in the apartment on the third floor of a multi-family house on Thursday evening. Firefighting teams discovered the 56-year-old resident lifeless. A doctor could only confirm her death.

The police currently assume that the woman died in the fire. A violent crime can be ruled out at this point, said a police spokesperson.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. Other residents of the multi-family house were able to leave their apartments in time according to the police and remained unharmed.

The fire occurred in the city of Heidenheim, which is located in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The apartment fire took place in the inner city and was reported on Thursday evening. The Bavarian police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman's death. The fire department is working diligently to determine the cause of the fire.
