Almost 30 schools closed after bomb threat in Belgium

Following a bomb threat, more than two dozen schools in Belgium remained closed on Monday. According to a Belgian school provider, a threat was received on Sunday evening. According to the information, the doors of almost 30 institutions remained closed to pupils. The police are investigating the facilities concerned. Further details on the background to the threat were not initially known. Parents can contact the respective school management for further information, according to the school authority Wallonie Bruxelles Enseignement.

Six schools in the Dutch town of Oss in the south of the country also remained closed. The police reported that bomb threats had previously been received at two schools run by the same organization. This was a false alarm, the police told the TV station NOS. The police were unable to say whether there was a connection with the reports in Belgium.

Despite the bomb threat resolution in Oss, schools in the Netherlands, the incident prompted heightened security measures in Belgian schools facing similar threats. Regrettably, some criminals target educational institutions, posing a threat to the safety of our children in schools.
