The summer holidays begin - ADAC expects full autobahns in Bavaria
At the start of summer holidays in Bavaria and Baden-Wuertenberg, the ADAC expects long traffic jams on the autobahns in the Free State towards the end of the week. Particularly affected are predicted to be the metropolitan regions and border crossings, according to ADAC Südbayern. In the neighboring Alpine regions, problem areas include the Brenner-, Tauern-, Fernpass-, Inntal-, Karawanken- and Gotthard-Route.
Travelers must calculate high time losses according to traffic expert Alexander Kreipl during the first holiday weekend from Friday onwards. The second peak of the travel wave is expected by the ADAC two weeks later around Mariä Himmelfahrt. There is also expected to be a lot of traffic in the last two holiday weeks.
To avoid the biggest traffic jams, vacationers should ideally not leave on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays - or if so, then only in the late afternoon, recommends the Traffic Club. In addition, more time should be planned. To avoid waiting times at toll stations, necessary vignettes can be purchased in advance.
During their summer vacation, many travelers in Southern Germany, specifically in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, might encounter heavy traffic on the autobahns, particularly towards the weekend's end. Munich, being a metropolitan region, is predicted to experience significant congestion, as mentioned by ADAC Südbayern. To manage traffic and potential delays, ADAC recommends purchasing necessary vignettes in advance to avoid waiting times at toll stations. Additionally, vacationers should consider leaving later on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays to avoid the peak of traffic jams.
