family attacks - A young person charged with attempted manslaughter

Six months after the brutal stabbing attack of a then 16-year-old on family members and a friend in Unterfranken, the public prosecutor's office has indicted the teenager. The now 17-year-old is accused of attempted murder in two cases and grievous bodily harm in three cases, according to the authority. The Youth Chamber of the Würzburg Regional Court must now decide on the admissibility of the indictment. Since the defendant is a juvenile, the proceedings will take place in accordance with the law without public access.

It remains to be seen whether the juvenile was culpable for the crime at the time. However, the expert report, which is currently not available, is expected to clarify this.

The incident occurred at the end of January in a detached house in Marktbreit (Landkreis Kitzingen). The motive of the suspect is publicly unknown. There was a dispute before the attack. The young man is said to have seriously injured two men, then 56 and 67 years old, with a kitchen knife, and lightly injured a 53-year-old woman.

The criminal act took place in the region of Lower Franconia, specifically in Marktbreit, which is under Bavaria's jurisdiction. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Würzburg is handling the case related to the Messerattack, which led to charges of attempted manslaughter and bodily harm. The youth court in Würzburg will determine if the indictment is admissible for the 17-year-old defendant, as responsibility for the crimes is under scrutiny.
