Mitte, Berlin - A woman is said to have set fire in a friend's apartment

After a fight, a 23-year-old woman is suspected to have set fire to the apartment of a friend in Berlin-Wedding. Neighbors alerted emergency services, who forcibly gained entry to the apartment, according to the police. The fire department extinguished the fire before it could spread to other apartments. The building residents had to be temporarily evacuated, police said. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning after the incident.

The 40-year-old main tenant of the burning apartment reported that he had previously had guests in his apartment. Among the guests was the 23-year-old suspected arsonist, he said. She is suspected of having set the fire after the main tenant and other guests had temporarily left the apartment. The Brand Investigation Office of the State Criminal Police is now searching for the woman, according to reports.

The 23-year-old woman's alleged criminal act of arson took place in her friend's apartment, located in Berlin-Wedding. The fire department's swift intervention prevented the blaze from spreading to adjacent units, potentially saving numerous lives.
