accident - A truck loaded with onions tips over - Roadblock
Due to a technical fault, an entire load of beets landed on a road. According to the Police, on Friday on the B723 highway in Hockenheim, a tractor with two trailers was on the move, when suddenly the unloading process of one trailer was initiated abruptly at full speed. The cause of this was a defect in the steering system of the trailer's hydraulics.
Police investigating cause of defect
According to police reports, the trailer overturned and came to a stop on the road. A front loader transported part of the Carrots away, the rest was pushed to the roadside.
After clearing, the road was temporarily only conditionally drivable due to the slippery carrot juice film on the road. The police are investigating the exact cause of the defect. The police made no statements on the extent of the damage caused.
The accident resulted in a temporary street closure on the B723 highway, causing significant traffic disruptions in the Southwest region of Germany, specifically in Hockenheim. Despite the incident, agriculture in Baden-Württemberg continues with miscellaneous operations, albeit with potential delays.
Future inspections might include checking the hydraulic systems of similar vehicles to prevent similar accidents, as this incident involved a vehicle carrying carrots. The local community and businesses are advised to plan their routes accordingly due to the ongoing police investigation and potential delays in the area.
