Surveys - A survey sees BSW level with SPD and CDU in Brandenburg

Approximately two months before the Brandenburg state election, a new survey by the Insa Institute for "Bild" shows the Left-wing Alliance of Sahra Wagenknecht almost tied with the SPD and CDU. In the latest survey, the newly founded party achieved 17 percent, the CDU obtained 18 percent, and the SPD secured 19 percent. The strongest force is the AfD with 24 percent. Since 2019, the SPD has been governing in Brandenburg with the CDU and Greens.

Besides the SPD, which would lose more than seven percent compared to the 2019 state election, the Linke are expected to suffer a loss of almost six percent, and the Greens a difference of nearly four percent. According to the Insa survey, the Linke now only obtain five percent, while the Greens reach seven percent. The Free Voters come in with four percent, just as the FDP with three percent.

The upcoming Brandenburg state election, scheduled to take place soon, is expected to be tight between the SPD and the Left-wing Alliance led by Sahra Wagenknecht's Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht. As per the recent statistics from the Insa Institute, the SPD and Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht are almost equal in terms of voter support, with the SPD slightly leading with 19%, followed by Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht at 17%, and the CDU trailing behind at 18%.

The CDU, however, might see a slight improvement in their vote share compared to the 2019 state election, as indicated by the survey. On the other hand, the SPD and Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht could face significant losses in the Brandenburg state election, as predicted by the Insa Institute survey.

The state election in Potsdam and surrounding Brandenburg region could see significant shifts in power, with traditionally strong parties like the SPD and CDU potentially losing a significant portion of their votes, according to the survey. The election results could also lead to new alliances and coalition negotiations in the governance of the state.

The CDU, SPD, and the Greens have been governing the state of Brandenburg since 2019, but the latest survey suggests that the AfD remains the strongest force in Brandenburg, with 24% of the potential vote share. This might pose challenges for the current coalition government, and the outcome of the state election could bring about significant changes to the political landscape in Brandenburg.
