Beach Volleyball - A Schwerin woman switches from the hall to the sand

Volleyball player Linda Bock returns to the sand after overcoming a serious knee injury and sees her future as a Beach Volleyball player. "It's been almost 9 months since I tore my cruciate ligament and meniscus. After the operation and hard work in rehab, I will be back on the volleyball court," the 24-year-old German record champion from SSC Schwerin shared on Instagram.

However, she will no longer be on the court of Schwerin's home stadium Palmberg Arena, but will continue on the sand. "It wasn't an easy decision to leave the comfort zone we've built in this family club and start a completely new adventure," Bock commented. She will still represent SSC Schwerin in the sand. She had switched from Dresden to Schwerin at the beginning of the 2023/2024 season. However, she injured her cruciate ligament and meniscus at the end of October and was out for the rest of the season.

Goal: Olympic Games 2028

For weeks, she has been preparing herself in Hamburg under professional conditions for national and international competitions, Bock continued. Hamburg is one of the German Beach Volleyball's support points. There, for example, Olympic participants Cinja Tillmann/Svenja Mueller, Laura Ludwig/Louisa Lippmann and Clemens Wickler/Nils Ehlers train.

"I'm looking forward to the coming time in Beach Volleyball and want to make my dream of the Olympics come true in 4 years," according to SSC Schwerin's announcement.

Linda Bock, despite her knee injury, expressed her desire to return to volleyball, specifically Beach Volleyball, after her recovery. Following her recovery, she won't be playing in Schwerin's Palmberg Arena but will continue her career on the sand. Upon sharing her journey on Instagram, she acknowledged the difficult decision of leaving her comfortable club, SSC Schwerin, for a new adventure. Despite the change, Linda remains committed to representing SSC Schwerin in Beach Volleyball, as she had joined them from Dresden at the beginning of the 2023/2024 season. Her injury occurred at the end of October and sidelined her for the rest of the season. With a focus on the Olympic Games 2028, Hamburg becomes essential for her training, as it houses some of Germany's Beach Volleyball athletes preparing for national and international competitions.
