At Bramsche - A restless horse on the autobahn causes traffic to stop
A nervous horse caused traffic on the Autobahn 1 near Osnabrück to come to a temporary standstill. Since the horse in the two-animal loaded horse trailer was restless, the crew of the towing vehicle held it in a rest area, said a spokesperson for the Osnabrück Police Inspection.
There, one of the animals had escaped from the trailer and had lain near the vehicle for a while. For safety reasons, the section of the highway in the direction of Norden between Bramsche and Neuenkirchen-Vörden was temporarily closed, it was reported. The horse and trailer were eventually diverted from the autobahn.
A companion was reportedly waiting with the horse on a meadow by the autobahn for a veterinarian to examine the animal for injuries. A passing veterinarian in a car had wanted to help. She had been slightly injured, said the police spokesperson. It was initially unclear whether the injury was related to the horse or had another cause.
- The incident on the Autobahn 1 led to concerns about traffic safety in the Lower Saxony region, especially near Bramsche.
- Despite the temporary closure of the autobahn section, regular traffic resumed once the horse and trailer were safely diverted, returning the 'Level' of traffic to normal.
