Could it be a clandestine contract revision?

A registry for assertions against Amazon Prime has been set up.

In February, Amazon Prime presented its customers with a decision: either pay more or endure advertisements in future viewings. This has infuriated consumer advocates and could even lead to legal action.

Affected customers now have the option to participate in a class action lawsuit against Amazon in Germany regarding the Prime Video streaming platform. The complaint process has officially opened, per the Consumer Advice Center in Saxony.

Those who had an Amazon Prime subscription prior to February 5 and opted for the pricier ad-free option will be eligible to join the lawsuit, as explained by Michael Hummel, a legal expert at the Consumer Center in Saxony. Amazon had given its customers the option to accept ads while streaming or continue without them for approximately €3 more a month.

"Such modifications within an ongoing contract require the consent of the consumer. We find this practice unlawful. Other streaming services demonstrate better approach and obtain their customers' consent prior to making changes." Prospective plaintiffs can register their complaint at the Federal Office of Justice.

The Consumer Advice Center in Saxony is offering assistance for those confused or in need of advice. Amazon initially refuted these accusations earlier this year, maintaining that they had adhered to all legal requirements.
