Annoyed by noise - A man is said to have fired a shotgun in Parish Schreckschusstarp

At the Landgericht Fulda, this Wednesday (9:00 am), the appeals hearing begins against a man who, according to the prosecution, fired a shock pistol in anger over nighttime noise in a church community last year. Two people, as per the prosecutor's statement, suffered respiratory issues, throat pain, and tearful eyes due to the escaping gas.

The accused was reportedly drunk at the time

The 54-year-old is charged with dangerous bodily harm, illegally carrying a firearm, and disturbing religious practice. The attack reportedly targeted members of an Eritrean-Orthodox religious community, who were celebrating a mass in the rooms of a Catholic parish. The accused was allegedly drunk during the commission of the crime in July 2023.

Convicted by the District Court

The man was sentenced by the District Court Fulda to one year in prison for dangerous bodily harm in conjunction with illegally carrying a firearm in February. The sentence was suspended.

Prosecution seeks prison sentence without parole

Both the prosecution and the accused filed appeals against the judgment. The accused aims to achieve a fine instead of the verdict through the appeal, while the prosecution seeks a prison sentence without parole.

  1. The incident occurred within the premises of a Catholic parish in Fulda, a city known for its rich history and cultural heritage in the state of Hesse.
  2. The Scaregun, a shock pistol, was allegedly used by the accused, leading to respiratory issues and discomfort among the victims.
  3. The job interview for the accused seemed irrelevant in the face of the ongoing legal proceedings at the District Court in Fulda.
  4. The Church, a place of peace and worship, became a scene of criminality, causing a significant stir in the local community.
  5. The incident sparked a heated debate in the town, with many questioning the penalty for freedom and the consequences of actions driven by frustration or anger.
  6. The Process at the Landgericht Fulda will aid in determining whether the accused deserves to serve a prison sentence or face a less severe penalty.
  7. The District Court will ultimately render its decision, following a careful examination of the evidence presented during the appeals hearing, and upholding the values of justice and fairness.
