A truck fire on Autobahn 7 near Homberg (Efze) at noon caused a kilometer-long traffic jam. The 41-year-old driver was able to leave the truck in time, according to the police.
Due to a technical defect in the engine, he had parked the truck, which was loaded with concrete slabs, on the emergency lane. It then caught fire there. All lanes were closed for two hours due to firefighting efforts. There was a traffic jam of approximately 16 kilometers, it was reported. The police reported damages amounting to around 70,000 Euro.
The fire department from Homberg (Efze) was called to handle the emergency situation. People traveling on Autobahn 7 were advised by the police to stay patient and avoid the area due to the ongoing traffic disruption. Despite the efforts of the firefighters and the local police, it took several hours to completely extinguish the fire that involved Hesse-based truck driver on that fateful day in Homberg (Efze).
