Fire department dispatch - A burning shoe ensures fire department intervention at the dockyard

A burning shoe caused another larger fire department intervention at the Lürssen-Kroëger shipyard in Schacht-Audorf, Rendsburg. The shoe was responsible for causing discomfort, said a fire department spokesperson to the German Press Agency. Around 150 people had to leave the hall briefly.

No one was injured in the incident, the fire department spokesperson added. The hall was ventilated. After the alarm was sounded off, the fire department went to the yard with 60 emergency vehicles.

Large Fire Early July

Three weeks prior, a large fire had caused significant damage to a ship hall at the yard. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still unknown. The police are investigating the fire on July 2nd. According to dpa information, in the hall was the new build of a 75-meter long yacht. Its estimated value was supposedly around 100 million Euros. The construction (project name "Honolulu") was already well advanced. The yard specializes in building luxury yachts.

Headquarters in Bremen

The yard has not yet commented on the possible cause of the fire and the ship in the shipbuilding hall. The Lürssen Group has its headquarters in Bremen. At the Schacht-Audorf site, according to company statements, medium and large yachts from 55 to 110 meters in length are built, as well as refits and maintenance work on smaller ships. Even larger yachts have had their launch here.

  1. The fire department operation at the Lürssen-Kroëger shipyard in Rendsburg, known for shipbuilding, was prompted by a smaller fire caused by a burning shoe.

  3. After the alarm was triggered at the shipyard, the fire department from Rendsburg arrived with 60 emergency vehicles, ventilated the hall, and ensured the safety of the nearby area.
  4. Despite the recent events, the Lürssen Group, with its headquarters in Bremen, continues its operations in Schacht-Audorf, building medium and large yachts, as well as refitting and maintaining smaller ships at the facility.
