Long blockage - A 27-year-old person dies in an accident on A24 near Neuruppin
A 27-year-old man died in a accident on Autobahn 24 between the interchanges Herzsprung and Neuruppin (Landkreis Ostprignitz-Ruppin). A 32-year-old driver of another car was seriously injured, and the passenger of the first car was lightly wounded, according to the Police Directorate Nord.
The 27-year-old overtook the car of the 32-year-old in the night and suddenly braked for unknown reasons after the pass, it was reported. This resulted in a collision, during which the car of the 32-year-old, according to the police, skidded across the road and overturned several times.
Subsequently, the 27-year-old collided with a camper van, as the Police reported. Its four occupants remained unharmed. The police blocked the Autobahn towards Berlin for hours in the early morning. The damage to property is estimated at around 30,000 Euro.
The accident involved a connection point between the interchanges Herzsprung and Neuruppin, located in the Landkreis Ostprignitz-Ruppin, near Brandenburg. The collision led to a blockage in traffic, causing significant delays for commuters headed towards Berlin. The police at the scene mentioned that this wasn't an isolated incident, as there had been multiple accidents on the Autobahn recently. After the initial accident, an Emergency Response Team was dispatched to the scene to assist with any necessary medical interventions for the injured parties, including occupants of the overturned camper van. While the authorities worked diligently to clear the debris and assess the damage, they advised drivers to find alternate routes to avoid further delays due to the ongoing traffic disruption.
