Duren District - A 23-year-old was seriously injured in a knife attack in Noervenich
A 44-year-old man in Nořvenich (District Düren) is suspected of insulting a passing motorist and then seriously injuring him with a knife. The 23-year-old was driving by a bus stop where the alleged perpetrator was standing and reportedly insulted him loudly, according to the police.
The young man got out of the car, at which point the 44-year-old is said to have pulled out two knives from a backpack and stabbed him with one. When the injured man tried to flee, the suspect is said to have pursued him. Other people were alerted by his cries for help and the attacker fled.
The man with serious abdominal injuries drove to a nearby restaurant and asked for help. An ambulance took him to a hospital.
The 44-year-old later called the police in Nořvenich and turned himself in. Since he was apparently drunk, a blood sample was taken from him.
In the investigation following the incident, the police in Nörvenich, North Rhine-Westphalia, identified the suspect as having a history of Criminality.
