A man is missing - 90-year-olds locked in church - SOS call by bell

With the church bell ringing, a resident of a senior home reported missing drew the attention of the police and alerted them. The 90-year-old man had not returned to the home as agreed after attending an event at the Luther Church in Apolda, in the middle of Thuringia, according to the police report. Despite extensive searches with six patrol cars, the home resident could not be found.

Unexpectedly, at around 3:15 am, the church bells rang. The shift leader of the police station was surprised and immediately dispatched officers to investigate the church. They heard a male voice behind the church door. After the called-in pastor opened the church, the officers were able to bring the man back to his lodgings. He explained that he had accidentally been locked in. After a long search, he had finally found the caretaker of the church bell and managed to turn it on.
