A 85-year-old woman was hit by a trailer on a rest area of A4 in Reichshof east of Bonn and died. According to initial investigations, her husband is said to have stopped the trailer on the rest area's parking lot, while the woman was standing behind the caravan, as the police reported.
Despite resuscitation efforts by the paramedics, the woman died at the scene. Her 90-year-old husband and a witness were taken care of by crisis counselors. The caravan was secured.
The accident occurred in the rest area of A4, situated east of Bonn in North Rhine-Westphalia. The traffic on the highway was briefly interrupted due to the incident. Ms. and her husband were known to frequently travel in their caravan for leisure.
