In the night from Monday, the officers received tips about a possible burglary attempt at a school, as the Heidelberg Prosecutor's Office and Mannheim Police Headquarters reported. At the scene, they found a car with a running engine and a 49-year-old man asleep behind the wheel. Next to it stood a truck.
Two Men in their mid-40s were discovered jumping out of the truck's cargo area, as further information stated. One surrendered himself to the police without resistance, while the other fled and offered resistance during the arrest. According to reports, three officers were lightly injured. The 49-year-old man in the car was also arrested. All three men were later taken into custody - among other reasons, due to flight risk.
The reason: The police discovered a second wall between the passenger compartment and the cargo area in the truck - with a smuggling compartment. In it, the police reportedly found approximately 55 Kilograms Marihuana, packaged in vacuum-sealed folio packages, each containing 500 grams and one kilogram. It was assumed that the drugs had been imported from abroad, according to the investigation. They were allegedly to be loaded into the car and then sold. The investigators made no statements regarding the market value of the drug seizure.
